Anyone can make mistakes, like deleting important files, installing the wrong applications or making incorrect settings. In certain cases, a mistake can damage the system and it may be quite difficult to repair it. RestoreIT can help you recover from any catastrophe in just a few minutes. The software can take SMART snapshots of the entire hard drive, which can be used to restore the system to a previous point in time. In other words, you will be able to restore deleted files and undo any system settings, software installations and even virus infections.

The setup procedure involves only a few basic configurations, but it takes about three minutes until the wizard installs the software's core components on your computer. There are two setup files available for download, one for Windows XP and Vista and one for Windows 7 and Windows 8. The software is not free, but you can use a 14-day evaluation version, which doesn't come with any restricted functions.

RestoreIT's functionality is very straightforward. The user interface presents strictly what you need to back up and restore your system. You can take snapshots and restore the system on different pages, which can be accessed via navigation tabs, on the left side of the interface or by clicking one of the options on the software's home screen. To create a system snapshot, all you have to do is type in a name for the snapshot and RestoreIT will take care of the rest.

Snapshots are stored in a protected area and they can be mounted as virtual drives. They can be found in the Restore section, on the user interface, where you can filter them by their creation dates. The software is quite flexible when it comes to recovery. When you select a snapshot, you may click a Next button and choose to restore the system partition or the entire hard drive.

If you want to recover deleted files and nothing else, you can mount the snapshots as virtual partitions. You can explore the virtual partitions in Windows Explorer, access their contents and copy them to the real partitions.

Pros

You can restore deleted files or the entire operating system, using SMART snapshots. The software places several recovery options at your disposal. Additionally, restoring files or the system can be done in just a few minutes.

Cons

Besides the short evaluation period, there are no disadvantages to mention. Thanks to RestoreIT's smart functionality, you don't have to reinstall the operating system or work with huge recovery images, if your system gets damaged.
